Motherwell
There is an extra buzz and bite in the Motherwell camp this week, the players and fans have been waiting for this match. Aberdeen at home, the return of their former manager who left to what he obviously thought was a better club/job. So there is no doubt that we will get 100% commitment from the players in this game.
Everything looks good for Motherwell if we look at the league table, they are sitting in 3rd place only 2pts behind Celtic, but if we look a bit closer I would be a little alarmed they have conceded 8 goals in their last 3 home matches.
Some of this may be due to Shaun Hutchinson being out injured at the moment but it is something Stuart McCall is going to have to address.
Possible Motherwell lineup :
Randolph, Hately, Clancy, Craigan, Hammell, Humphrey, Lasley, Jennings, Law, Murphy, Higdon (4-4-2)
Aberdeen
Craig Brown has not enjoyed the best of times up in Aberdeen since he took over the mess that Mark McGee left behind but losing to East Fife in the cup midweek was both the low and most embarrassing point of his reign surely. There were question marks before the game about them leaving out 6 first team players but Brown insisted he had a good enough team out to get the job done, oh dear.
Aberdeen's league form this year has been really poor, they are sitting 3rd bottom of the league with only 1 win 3 draw and 4 loses. To be fair they have constantly struggled with injuries preventing them putting their best team out on the park but at least now they are basically at full strength. The recent signing of New Zealander Rory Fallon gives them a decent target man up front and an ideal partner for Vernon to play off.
Aberdeen are only really missing Fraser Fyvie who is away on Scotland U19 duty.
Possible Aberdeen lineup :
Gonzalez, Jack, Considine, Mawene, Foster, Pawlett, Osbourne, Milsom, Arnason, Fallon, Vernon (4-4-2)
THE BETTING VERDICT
Craig Brown was hurt by his humbling defeat by East Fife midweek, he'll have asked his players for a big response especially returning to Motherwell. With both teams seemingly incapable of keeping clean sheets at the moment I'm going to take both teams to score. This has happened in 5 out of 6 of their last meetings at Fir Park.
If you like to name an anytime goalscorer I suggest Motherwell's Higdon as a likely scorer.
The Pick :
Motherwell 1-1 Aberdeen
BEST BETTING TIP :
Main Bet:Both team to score at odds of 1.91 (William Hill)
