2011-11-21 - Concordia vs Astra Ploiesti
A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football: Romanian Liga 1
Venue: "Concordia", Chiajna
Monday 21th November - Kickoff time: 20:30 GMT+2
Concordia (17th W-2 D-3 L-8)
Concordia Chiajna was close to pull off a major upset on their travel to Bucharest in the match against Steaua. Vlad Munteanu broke the deadlock and gave Concordia the lead, but with two second half goals Steaua collected all three points.
This loss was their 8th of the season, only Mioveni lost more games from the league, which is probably why they are the only team below Concordia on the table. Concordia only scored 8 goals in 13 games which makes them the team with the lowest amount of goals scored.
Three of those goals were scored in their previous home game against Mioveni, but the guests had to play the entire 90 minutes in 10 men after Nicolae Dica was sent off just seconds after the first whistle.
Romanian U21 international Silviu Pana is training with the team against after undergoing surgery, but he is not fit to play from the start yet.
Concordia’s home record:
31.10.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 12 Concordia Chiajna 3 - 1 Dacia Mioveni
15.10.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 10 Concordia Chiajna 0 - 4 CFR Cluj
23.09.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 8 Concordia Chiajna 2 - 1 FC Brasov
29.08.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 5 Concordia Chiajna 0 - 2 Petrolul Ploiesti
13.08.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 3 Concordia Chiajna 0 - 3 FC Vaslui
Astra (9th W-5 D-5 L-3)
There is quite an unconventional situation at this club, coach Tibor Selymes was sacked at the beginning of the season after just two games and replaced with ex-Rapid’s coach Marius Sumudica.
The demanding owner wasn’t quite happy with the progress of his team and decided to sack Sumudica as well. The weird thing is that he replaced him with the coach he initially sacked at the beginning of the season, Tibor Selymes.
The first match with the ex/new coach on the bench was a local derby against Petrolul Ploiesti, a match that finished undecided, 1-1.
Astra only lost 3 games this season, the same number of defeats that second placed CFR Cluj suffered until now. However, Astra is only 9th at the moment.
Astra’s away record:
30.10.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 12 Rapid 3 - 2 Astra Ploiesti
14.10.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 10 Otelul Galati 1 - 1 Astra Ploiesti
26.09.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 8 Pandurii Tg. Jiu 1 - 2 Astra Ploiesti
09.09.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 6 FCM Târgu-Mureş 2 - 2 Astra Ploiesti
12.08.2011 Liga 1 Etapa 3 Dacia Mioveni 0 - 1 Astra Ploiesti
The betting verdict
There are some modest teams in the first league, but CS Mioveni and Concordia Chiajna set new lows, it would take a miracle for any of them to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
Astra on the other hand, despite these frequent coach changes remains a solid team, a team that with some luck can even fight for a European spot at the end of the season.
The odds for an away win are tempting considering that in my opinion Concordia will keep on losing games, but Astra already registered 5 draws this season so i will go for a safer option.
The Pick :
Concordia Chiajna 1-2 Astra Ploiesti
