Carolina come to Philadelphia looking to improve on their 7-11-3 record. Just a week ago, Philadelphia dealt them a 5-3 loss and I doubt they will be able to get revenge here. Not only have Philadelphia beaten them in both games this season, but they have a 16-1-2 recent record against them.
The Flyers are not going to have trouble scoring here, as they banged in 3 goals on Saturday despite losing to the Winnipeg Jets. That loss will mean we get a much more concerted effort from the Flyers here as they look to bounce back from a loss in front of their home fans. Great motivation against an opponent they know they can tonk if they play like they can.
Carolina just won last night at home, beating Toronto 3-2. Philadelphia last played on Saturday. Cam Ward was busy which means the Hurricanes are likely to start Brian Boucher between the pipes for this one against his old team. Problem is, he has an awful record against Philadelphia, losing all 3 meetings and giving up 5 goals less than a month ago.
The Flyers rookie Matt Read has been on a tear lately, scoring 5 goals in his last 4 matches to take his total to 8. Then there is center Claude Giroux, who leads the team with 11 goals, 20 assists and 31 points. Scott Hartnell scored and had an assist in the Flyers last match. I'd keep an eye on all three players for this one. Philadelphia are 11-5-3, and that record will be improved upon tonight.
