Match Preview :

Lazio have failed to register a win in their last three matches as they look to correct that when Atalanta comes visiting to the Stadio Olimpico today.

Last weekend Lazio took a beating when they were thrashed 4-0 at the hands of relegation candidates Siena. In midweek Lazio had to rely on a Hernanes stoppage-time free kick to scrape through past Hellas Verona to reach the Coppa Italia quarter-finals in the most unconvincing fashion.

This is partly due to their huge injury lists which sees them without Cristian Brocchi, Abdoullay Konko, Stefano Mauri and the suspended Albano Bizzarri. Meanwhile, Lorik Cana, Libor Kozak, Stephen Makinwa and Francelino Matuzalem are also rated doubtful for this clash.

One piece of good news is that goalkeeper Federico Marchetti returns from his injury to take his place between the posts. Djibril Cissè again showed his poor form upfront so we could see the likes of Tommaso Rocchi coming on instead.

Atalanta only managed one win in their last 5 games and their last math saw them going down to Milan. That was their first loss of the season at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia so they would be hoping to avoid back to back defeats now.

As for the Atalanta teams news, Matteo Brighi and Daniele Capelli are still out, while Thomas Manfredini and Giampaolo Bellini will be hoping to be fit ahead of this clash. Former Under-21 international Guido Marilungo is expected to provide support to German Denis rather than Maxi Moralez or Simone Tiribocchi upfront.

Interestingly, when these two sides clashed in the past it has never ended in a draw since the 0-0 in February 2003, followed by four home wins and one Atalanta victory in 2009.
