Fulham were just here over the weekend, losing 4-0 to Everton and now they must make the journey to face Liverpool. Fulham have won just 3 away games all season, but will be hoping Liverpool continue to drop points at Anfield. Quite amazingly, the Reds have won just 5 games at home all season!
Liverpool have never lost at home to Fulham, in any competition. They will be buoyed by the fact Fulham have scored a league worst 11 goals on the road, and have been blanked in over half their away games, including the weekend thrashing at the hands of Everton.
Liverpool have not exactly been banging them in either, with just 20 goals at home all season, in the bottom 25% of the league. However, the team has shown an ability to score of late, as they build to their big FA Cup final match this weekend against Chelsea. Everton were knocked out of the cup in the semis in a 2-1 win where they were behind, and Blackburn were also beaten 3-2 despite the loss of their goalkeeper and playing with 10 men for quite a while. Then on the weekend, Suarez turned it on, and put 3 past Norwich City.
There is enough firepower in this squad, and recent games suggest they are unlikely to slump here, even with the distraction of the FA Cup finals looming this Saturday. Fulham have however shown that they are able to sometimes do well against the big sides, and their 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea, and the narrow 1-0 loss away at Old Trafford to Manchester United, make me feel this is likely to be a cagey affair with a lack of goals.
BETTING VERDICT
Liverpool look the likely winners, but I don't see them turning Fulham over. This has the look of a 1-0 win to me, and if things get crazy perhaps 2-0 or 1-1. But I cannot imagine Fulham putting in another performance like they did on the weekend and shipping a bunch. I will have a small wager on the Under at a good price.
