Striker Carroll is likely to start against Chelsea following his performance in the FA Cup final. He is likely to replace Craig Bellamy in the starting eleven after he came on and brought a change in their side. Midfielder Jay Spearing may also miss out after his disappointing display at Wembley, while Charlie Adam and Lucas Leiva remain out of the side.

Chelsea are set to be without David Luiz and Gary Cahill again due to injury. Nevertheless, Di Matteo is hopeful they could return to full training later this week. Meanwhile, Fernando Torres could come into the starting line-up at the expense of Didier Drogba to face his former club
