Borussia Dortmund starts as favourites in this derby match with Schalke. They are also in high spirits after dispatching Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, although with Bayern Munich 17 points clear in the Bundesliga table, their aim will be to finish second in the Bundesliga.
However, Borussia Dortmund has won just three of its last seven matches heading into Saturday’s derby against Schalke. Meanwhile, Schalke drew 1-1 with Turkish champion Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie on Feb. 20 and will not want to play in midweek coming off a defeat. That will be a big blow to their morale.
No doubt that Schalke have been plagued by injuries most notably by Netherlands striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar so far this season, and he has scored just six goals in the Bundesliga this campaign. He scored 29 last season.
When the last time these two sides met back in October, Schalke won by 2-1, however they have not beaten Dortmund on this ground in the Bundesliga since February 2010. It should be noted that in the last two matches between these two teams at least 3 goals were scored.

Schalke is still without goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall, who has a knee injury, while winger Ibrahim Afellay also misses out with a muscle problem. Jens Keller will also be without central defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos, who is recovering following knee surgery, and U.S. national team midfielder Jermaine Jones is suspended.
Borussia Dortmund Team News :
Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp will be without Sven Bender in this derby as the midfielder continues to regain hisfull fitness, and right back Patrick Owomoyela remains sidelined and has not featured all season.
Klopp will, however, have top scorer Robert Lewandowski available for selection following the Poland international’s suspension, and defender Mats Hummels has recovered from flu.
