Leyton Orient welcome Carlisle United to their Matchroom Stadium ground on Saturday afternoon as they look to extend their five match unbeaten run and close the gap on sixth placed Yeovil Town.

Leyton Orient will also be looking for a third successive League One win this weekend following back-to-back wins over Shrewsbury Town 2-0 away and the midweek win over bottom club Portsmouth 1-0 which ended Pompey’s mini ‘revival’ and condemned them to another week at the bottom of the division. The O’s have also accounted for Bournemouth 3-1 a couple of weeks ago so they appear to be hitting some form at the right time.

Leyton Orient’s home record stands at 10-2-7 22/18 and they’ve lost just once in the last eight at home and this run includes wins over Walsall, Notts County, Tranmere Rovers as well as the south coast pair of Bournemouth and Portsmouth.

CARLISLE UNITED

Visitors Carlisle United caused something of an upset last weekend when they beat play-off candidates Brentford 2-0 at home which ended a six match spell without recording a league win which included defeats to Scunthorpe United, Walsall and Notts County along with draws against Portsmouth, MK Dons and Crawley Town, while their away record stands at 5-5-8 18/26.

The Cumbrians remain winless in their last four on their travels however and they’ve just one win in their last eight which was another surprising result at Tranmere Rovers where they won 1-0 back in early February.

Carlisle are nine points above the relegation places so you’d assume that they’re safe from any immediate relegation worries, and they’ll be depending on their home form to keep their heads above water which should be the case given they’ve lost just once in their last seven at Brunton Park.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

However, it’s the here and now and I compare one defeat in their last eight at home (Leyton Orient) versus one win in their last eight away from home (Carlisle United), so I’ll back The O’s for another three points but I recommend giving the quarter ball which halves your stake loss if Leyton Orient don’t win. 2-1 to Leyton Orient.
