Another lower half encounter in League Two sees a clash between Bristol Rovers and Rochdale at the Memorial Ground on Saturday afternoon as Bristol Rovers go in search of a fourth successive home win that could lift them up into a mid-table position.

Rovers have put together some decent performances in the last few matches with wins over Burton Albion 3-0, Exeter City 2-0 and Port Vale 2-0 all of whom occupy positions within the top seven of League Two. The Gasheads have lost a couple away from home at strong home side Northampton Town 0-1 and Chesterfield 0-2 but these won’t worry them too much as they now return back to their own stomping ground and are very capable of taking the points here today.

Bristol Rovers’ home record stands at 9-3-7 29/26 and they’ve won five of their last six at the Memorial with additional wins over Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers, with one loss to hot-and-cold Rotherham United, but they’ve also kept four clean sheets from their last five.

ROCHDALE

Rochdale have gone off the boil lately with just two league wins from their last twelve matches overall, and away from home they are without a win in their last six on the road. Home wins over Torquay United and Wycombe Wanderers has been scant reward from their last twelve matches and that’s why they’ve now dropped down the division from their previous top half position.

Rochdale’s away record stands at 6-5-8 29/37 and they’ve recently lost at Dagenham, Northampton Town and Morecambe whilst getting just single points at Cheltenham Town (a good result), Barnet and York City.

What is more worrying for Rochdale though is that they’ve drawn a blank in four of their last five away from home and this is what gives Bristol Rovers the edge here today I feel.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

Rovers have been impressive at home in recent weeks whilst claiming some major scalps with wins over Burton, Exeter and Port Vale so I’ll take them with the round ball here at decent odds. Rovers to win 2-0.
