CHELTENHAM TOWN
Cheltenham Town and Rotherham United clash at Whaddon Road in Saturday’s pick of the League Two fixtures this weekend with the possible mini prize of going level on points with third placed Port Vale.
Cheltenham return back to their home ground for this weekend which will be a bit of a relief following last weekend’s defeat at Burton Albion 1-3, but they know that their home form has been great so far this season. Prior to the Burton result, Cheltenham Town had put together a six match unbeaten run that included wins over Southend United, AFC Wimbledon and Chesterfield along with draws against Aldershot Town, Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town.
Cheltenham’s form at home has been dominant though and their overall record stands at 11-6-2 29/16 and have an unbeaten record of an impressive sixteen matches as they’ve proved to be very difficult to get points against at Whaddon Road.
In addition, Cheltenham Town have racked up eight clean sheets at home so far so visitors Rotherham United will have their work cut out to get anything here this afternoon.
ROTHERHAM UNITED
Play-off rivals Rotherham United make the tough trip south west to Cheltenham having won just once in their last five matches, but on the flip-side they’ve only lost once in their last eight matches.
Rotherham are currently just one place above Cheltenham, but they’ve been held to three draws from their last five recently with stalemates against York City, Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers which has held them back slightly from making a serious dent in Gillingham’s lead at the top of the division.
On their travels, Rotherham are unbeaten in their last five with wins at Torquay United 3-1, Bristol Rovers 2-1 and Oxford United 4-0 along with points at Southend United and Wycombe, with an overall away record that stands at 8-6-4 26/24.
THE BETTING VERDICT:
This will be a tight match to call but with home advantage and their outstanding record at Whaddon Road I reckon it’s worth taking Cheltenham with the round ball with a good chance of them nicking the win. Could be a 2-1 win for The Robins here.
