2007-10-01 - Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Monday Night Football sees the clash between Tottenham Hotspurs currently languishing in the bottom three welcoming the visit of Aston Villa currently in 9th spot in the Premiership.
Martin Jol has a big burden on his shoulders as his side has managed just one win from their opening seven matches this season as they head into this match. A win for the home side could see them jump as far as 12th in the standings but the visitors will not be easy to be beaten here that is for sure.
Tottenham do have a good home record over Martin O’ Neill’s side as they have managed four wins and three draws from their last seven matches at White Hart Lane - including a 5-1 back in 2005.
Aston Villa for their part last managed to win here back in 2000 when Dion Dublin scored two goals in a 4-2 win. Villa were beaten in the midweek’s Carling Cup to Leicester City but it would be foolish to underestimate them here.
Martin Jol could decide to retain the same side that beat Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup in midweek but could bring back Robbie Keane upfront fro Jermain Defoe. Darren Bent is another player hoping to get a call up here.
Martin Jol will stick to the same backline that played in the Carling Cup win as the likes of Ledley King and Anthony Gardner is still out injured. As for Aston Villa, striker John Carew is still out so Marlon Harewood will have to compete with Luke Moore for a place upfront. Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young and Shaun Maloney will be supporting in the middle of midfield.
Dutch defender Wilfred Bouma should be fit after a slight knock in midweek while Martin Laursen will start this match after being rested against Leicester City.
Cheers and good luck,
