Italian Serie A
2008-04-19 - A.S Roma vs Livorno
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Both teams will have separate missions when they go head to head at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow night as A.S Roma currently in second place with 71 points, four points adrift of Inter Milan who are at the top with 75 points welcomes rock bottom Livorno with 29 points but could actually climb out of last spot with a win here, but that is a tall order for them indeed going by their poor away record on their travels.
A.S Roma are still in with a chance of winning the Scudetto with just five matches to go and they even rested some of their players in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Catania in the Coppa Italia first leg. Roma knows that after going out in the Champions League they still have a chance to win the double as they are in the running for the Scudetto as well as Coppa Italia. In their last match despite going down a goal against Udinese, they showed true character to fight back and win that match 3-1 at the Friuli to stay in the title race.
Roma are still without the services of Alberto Aquilani and Matteo Ferrari who are out injured but Captain Francesco Totti is back to full fitness after his performance against Udinese which ended his three weeks spell on the sidelines. Mirko Vucinic will be the preferred striker in attack rather than Amantino Mancini, while Rodrigo Taddei will battle it out with Ludovic Giuly for a place in the side. Juan who did not feature last Sunday due to a muscular injury is back after he has successfully recovered.
The visitors Livorno are in one of the worst spells of their season and they have not won in more than five matches now with two straight losses in a row. Their defeat to fellow relegation Cagliari plunged them to the bottom of the table and their fans have even called for their President Aldo Spinelli to leave the club.
Former Roma striker Francesco Tavano who has not impressed in recent matches could be dropped here and instead Fausto Rossini is likely to start. Rossini is likely to be paired up with Alessandro Diamanti who has been one of their few creative discovery with his good passes and set pieces.
Livorno are still without the likes of Giuliano Giannichedda and David Balleri who are out with injuries. Daniele De Vezze is likely to come into the side as well rather than ex-Lazio Filippini twins.
Roma have a good record against Livorno in the past as the visitors only managed one draw in 1933 and one win in 1947 in their previous 15 visits to the Stadio Olimpico.
Last season Roma won 2-0 against the bottom club and with Livorno losing their last three matches 2-0 against the likes of Sampdoria, Udinese and Lazio, I would expect A.S Roma to get a 2-0 win here or more.
