Analysis:Even though Juventus will have no chance to challenge for the Serie A title but they have completed their mission since gaining promotion from Serie B and that is to play Champions League football next season. Juventus win over A.C Milan last weekend was enough to confirm their place in the Champions League and with Milan struggling for a Champions League spot as Fiorentina is ahead of them, they can take it easy now.
Atalanta have little to play for here, but Gigi Del Neri when he came into the side as their coach kept their side from being relegated but has not done enough to push for a UEFA Cup spot. Gigi Del Neri will have to make do without the likes of Cristiano Doni for this match after he was sent off for dissent at the referee which earned him a two match ban. This means that Atalanta will be short of options upfront in this match.
Claudio Rivalta who plays in defence is out injured so that didn’t help them much either. Manuel Belleri will be expected to fill in at right back. Atalanta are already without the likes of Antonio Langella, Zlatan Muslimovic and Costinha who are out on long term injuries.
As for Juventus, their last five matches has been like a yo-yo as they have won, draw, won, lost, won, ? ! That is right, your guess is as good as mine what their next result will be against Atalanta, but it they follow that up with the way they are playing in their last five games, this game seems to be headed towards the home side here.
Claudio Ranieri is unlikely to make many changes here. Momo Sissoko will miss out after the tackle by Daniele Bonela while the likes of Cristiano Zanetti is also out through injury. Mauro Camoranesi is expected to start in central midfield alongside Antonio Nocerino with Tiago in poor form.
For the record, Juventus have won the last three meetings between them and have not tasted defeat against Atalanta in Serie A since March 2001. In the Coppa Italia though, Atalanta did get the better of Juventus in the 2004-05 season as they managed a 5-3 aggregate win.
