2008-04-26 - Manchester City vs Fulham F.C
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Manchester City are finishing the season as how they started it – on a winning note and after their last win over Portsmouth will be confident of getting maximum points here once again. Sven Goran Eriksson’s side have won back to back matches beating Sunderland away from home and in their last match took out Portsmouth 3-1 at home.
As for the visitors Fulham could find themselves relegated here today if they fail to beat Manchester City and both Bolton and Reading win at Spurs and Wigan respectively. Their defeat to Liverpool 2-0 in their last match left them second from the bottom and they are five points away from Reading and have just three games to go.
Fulham comes into this match with a win in their last away game beating Reading and the West Londoners have secured back-to-back away wins in the Premier League just once in their history, so it is a tall order for them to repeat that here today.
Their cause is not help by the fact that City have the fifth best home record in England's Premiership with a haul of 37 points from their 18 games. The player to watch out for will be Darius Vassell who has scored five league goals against them in the past.
Manchester City have problems at the back as captain Richard Dunne is doubtful with a hamstring strain. If Dunne is ruled out then youngster Sam Williamson will come into the side after coming off the bench in last weekend's win over Portsmouth.
Another good news is that Sun Jihai is set to return and could feature at right-back which will allow Ekano more freedom to move in midfield. But the home side will miss the services of Micah Richards (knee) and Nedum Onuoha (shoulder) who are ruled out.
In attack we will see the likes of Benjani upfront and he is supported by Vassell and Bulgarian Martin Petrov for company.
As for Fulham, Roy Hodgson will make the changes after their defeat to Liverpool at home. Erik Nevland and Diomansy Kamara could come into the starting lineup ahead of Brian McBride and David Healy who had a poor game against Liverpool. Antti Niemi is still doubtful after being out of action with an achilles injury. If he fails to recover in time then Kasey Keller will once again start in goal.
Jimmy Bullard and Simon Davies are likely to keep their places in midfield while Leon Andresen could come in for Danny Murphy.
