English Premier
2008-05-04 - Liverpool vs Manchester City
A Sports Betting Pick by Duncan
After being eliminated midweek by Chelsea in the semi final of the Champions League, they return to anfield for their last Premiership game of this season against Manchester City. With 4th spot secured, and Man City comfortable in the he top half of the Premiership there isn't too much resting on this game other than pride. And, from Liverpool's pint of view the need to bounce back from the midweek result.
There has been speculation about Sven Goran Erikson's fuure as Man City's manager for next season. As far as I'm concerned he's done a good job, still plenty to do but a good platform to build from. But will he be there next season is anyone's guess.
On the player front Richard Dunne returns to the Man City team, but Micah Richards will miss this game through injury.
Rafa Benitez will be looking for Liverpool to end the season at Anfield with a win. On the injury front both Martin Skrtel and Fernando Torres both picked injuries midweek, but could well be available for this game.
Speculation continues over futures of some Liverpool players so for some it could be their last gme at Anfield. Peter Crouch's future hasn't been confirmed yet - he may come into the side for Torres, if he doesn't recover in time for this game.
I will be interested to see Liverpool's line-up for this game - I expect for the last game this season at Anfield we will see a strong side. What affect will the efforts for the game at Stamford Bridge have taken on the players will be interesting - so I expect still one or two changes from that side.
Man City haven't had the good results they did at the beginning of the season, but still have players that can cause problmes, but I think Liverpool have a bit more quality in the their squad and should take the three points in this match.
