Analysis:Sampdoria welcome the visit of Juventus for the last match of the season and both teams have nothing to play for apart for to complete the fixture list.
Juventus can be proud of their achievement after spending one season in Serie B and now look set to finish in third spot and along with a Champions League spot that comes with it.
No doubt the Old Lady of Turin has done well this season due to the magnificent form of strikers David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero and the duo are also battling it out with Marco Borriello to finish as the top scorer in Serie A this season. They have also been boosted by the news that veteran Pavel Nedved has pledged his future to the club by agreeing to extend his contract for another year.
Claudio Ranieri will have to make changes for this trip as he has to deal with suspensions. The likes of Zdenek Grygera, Antonio Nocerino and Mauro Camoranesi are missing for the visitors as they are suspended for this clash. The good news is that Cristian Molinaro will be available after serving his suspension. Hasan Salihamidzic and Nedved will be recaled back to the side after they drew their last match.
As for the home side Sampdoria, they are unlikely to make any changes from the side that ebat Palermo last weekend. But with Fiorentina beating Parma it means that their hopes for a Champions League spot is all shut now. No matter what happenes, they are assured of a UEFA Cup spot and a draw would be sufficient for them to finish in sixth spot due to their head-to-head record over Udinese.
Sampdoria will be more interested in keeping the services of Antonio Cassano for next season. Cassano who is currently on-loan from Real Madrid will not play at Euro 2008 after he was dismissed and handed a five match ban for his dismissal against Torino earlier this season. Cassano is expected to partner alongside Emiliano Bonazzoli as his usual partner Claudio Bellucci was ruled out for most of 2008 with an Achilles injury. In goal we will see Antonio Mirante starting and will hope to impress against his current employers.
Sampdoria last managed to beat Juventus back in February 2005. But then Juventus have won every other meeting they have met since 2000 which also included a 3-0 win in Genoa 4 years ago. When they met earlier this season at the Stadio Olimpico it ended in a stalemate, and I will be going for Juventus not to lose this match, even possibly win it.
