2008-09-14 - Stoke vs Everton
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Stoke enters this match knowing that they cannot afford to lose and need to get at least maximum points when they welcome the visit of Everton for this Super Sunday clash.
But both teams have a leaky defence as between them they have conceded seven goals in just their three opening games. Both teams have also yet to keep a clean sheet between them so goals are guaranteed here.
This game could go either side as Stoke have been strong at home managing to win their last home game beating Aston Villa 3-2, while Everton won their last away game beating West Brom 2-1.
Stoke did lose away to Bolton and Middlesbrough, while Everton were beaten by both Blackburn and Portsmouth at home so it could be a draw judging by the forms of both teams.
With regards to the team news, Everton's David Moyes is likely to hand a debut to £15million record signing Marouane Fellaini after he played for Belgium in their World Cup qualifiers this week and also trained with their side since Thursday. However, certainly to be out will be Lars Jacobsen after he dislocated his shoulders in Denmark's 3-2 win over Portugal. Also doubtful will be Jack Rodwell who injured himself playing for England Under 19's this week. Segundo Castillo also missed out after he has trouble getting a flight back after playing for Ecuador.
While the likes of Steven Pienaar (ankle), Andy van der Meyde (hamstring), Tony Hibbert (cruciate knee ligament), Tim Cahill (metatarsal) and Joseph Yobo (ankle) are all out injured. Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha is still struggling with a calf problem and will not feature.
As for Stoke, Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen could be handed a starting role to play against his former club here today. He is likely to get his break as summer signing Thomas Sorensen was on the sidelines for Denmark's victory over Portugal with a back problem.
The home side will miss the services of the suspended Amdy Faye after he was sent off against Middlesbrough in their last match. Glenn Whelan could be given a start after he played well against the Republic of Ireland which included scoring against Georgia last Saturday.
