Analysis:England makes the trip to Germany to face Germany in which Fabio Cappello will be short of his usual starting eleven, after some players had to withdraw due to injuries.
Theo Walcott is out after he suffered a dislocated shoulder during training. But Steven Gerrard has been included in the side despite not being fully fit which has angered Rafa Benitez. England are already missing the likes of Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney due to injuries. Thus we are likely to see the likes of David James and John Terry start in this match.
For the Premier League managers, many are unhappy over the timing of this match but for the other players, this may be their chance to start and impress Cappello. Players such as Ashley Young could start this match for the first time under Capello, although Stewart Downing is also battling for a starting spot on the left. Gabriel Agbohlahor at best will start from the bench.
Matthew Upson and Joleon Lescott will partner Captain John Terry in midfield. Micah Richards who has been recalled is likely to start from right back but will also battle it out with Glen Johnson. Wayne Bridge is likely to deputise for Ashley Cole on the other side of the flank.
Michael Carrick looks set to start in centre midfield after a spate of injuries will mean he is likely to get selected. The others will comprise of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Gareth Barry and most probably Downing making the last four.
We will see a new look attack as Darren Bent partners Jermain Defoe while Michael Owen has been left out of the side.
For Germany, coach Joachim Low will also field a side with many of his first chocie players missing with injuries. Marvin Compper, Tobias Weis and Marcel Schafer have earned call ups.
Schalke's Jermaine Jones is likely to start in central midfield for this match along with the likes of Simon Rolfes, while Miroslav Klose will lead the attack as in-form Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrick Helmes will be his partner.
Germany has not won this match when played in Berlin for the past seven meetings, even though they did win it last year at English soil. Their last win in Germany was way back in 1972. Cappello will be happy enough if he can get something what England managed in 2001 - a 5-1 win at Munich.
