Analysis:

Roy Keane's Sunderland welcomes the visit of Granfranco Zola's West Ham who are without a win in seven Premier League games and have dropped to 16th in the Premiership table which is just a point above the relegation zone.

But last weekend saw them keep their first clean sheet in 25 matches when they drew with Portsmouth 0-0. However, West Ham have not managed to win outside of London since December last year so it will be a gigantic task awaiting them.

For the host Sunderland, they do not boast of a good defence either as they managed to keep only one clean sheet in their previous 12 home matches.

But after three straight losses, Roy Keane side managed to end that losing streak with a fine win over Blackburn and will look to get back to back wins now.

With regards to the team news, Carlos Edwards could make a surprise entry to the starting eleven of Sunderland after he was recalled from his loan spell at Wolves. Interestingly, defender Anton Ferdinand will lined up against his former club after he left West Ham in the summer to join the Black Cats.

So Keane will hope the trio of Kenwyne Jones, Dwight Yorke and Carlos Edwards who represented Trinidad and Tobago comes back without any injuries. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon and defender George McCartney will be given late fitness test to prove their worth before they can start this match. Young striker Martyn Waghorn has joined Charlton on a one month loan so he will not be available for selection.

For the Hammers, Diego Tristan will face a late fitness test before the match starts. Herita Ilunga has been cleared to play after an ankle injury. However the likes of Mark Noble and Kieron Dyer are still out with injuries. Jonathan Spector could come back into the side after his operation in August but Dean Ashton and Danny Gabbidon are still out with injuries.
