Football: Scottish Premier League
Saturday 13th February Kick Off 12.30pm
Aberdeen (6th) Home Record W4 D2 L6
Celtic (2nd) Away Record W7 D1 L4
Aberdeen let a 2 goal lead slip on Wednesday night at Easter Road as Hibs fought back to earn a 2-2 draw in a thrilling game. No doubt Boss Mark Mcghee will be disappointed but the point sees them go ahead of Hearts and into the top 6. The Dons league ambitions will be to make the top 6 while they are still in the cup thanks to a last gap equaliser at Raith on Saturday.
Aberdeen have lost their last 2 home SPL games and failed to score in either of them and indeed failed to make many clear cut chances in very below par performances. Aberdeen started the season poorly but have improved as the season has progressed, although they have slipped a bit again of late and failed to win in their last 4. They have struggled for goals and lost star striker Lee Miller to Middelsboro, although Mcghee will be pleased that loan signing Steven Mclean found the net midweek.
Celtic have beaten Aberdeen in their last 4 meetings, twice this season very comfortably by 3-0 at Celtic Park and 3-1 on the first day of the season at Pittodrie. There was a much more confident looking Celtic on Wednesday night especially in the second half as they beat Hearts by a 2-0 scoreline. Robbie Keane looked sharp and caused problems for the Hearts defence despite failing to score his first SPL goal.
After a brief blip,Celtic looked more like themselves as some of their new signings settle in. Celtic have the best goals scored record on the road with 22 goals. Marco Antonio Fortune scored on Wednesday night and is looking a much better player at the moment, while new Danish Striker Morten Rasmussen has scored 3 goals in 2 starts. Scott Brown has also returned to the side and Celtic definitely look a more dangerous side in attack again. If they win this they can put pressure on Rangers and go 5 points behind before they play Hibs in a tough test on Sunday. They will definitely be well up to win this one.
