NCAA Football News :: Florida Gators beat Oklahoma Sooners 24-14 in NCAA title game

Florida's defense shut down college football's highest-scoring attack Thursday as the Gators offense stayed ahead of Oklahoma 24-14 in the FedEx BCS National Championship game.

Oklahoma had scored more than 60 points in five consecutive games leading into the clash, but the Sooners wasted two huge scoring chances deep in Florida territory in the first half and paid the price in the second half after going in tied 7-7 half-time.

Tim Tebow's 4-yard touchdown pass to David Nelson with 3:07 left salted away the title for the Florida Gators who moved to 13-1, and made coach Urban Meyer the first coach to win two BCS titles in the 11-year history of the system.
