Hertha Berlin's lead at the top of the Bundesliga was cut to a single point after they lost 2-0 at Stuttgart on Saturday while title rivals Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Hamburg all won.

Berlin had won their past three fixtures to open a handy gap at the top, but looked second best throughout against Markus Babbel's side.

Two goals from Cacau and Sami Khedira inside six minutes of the restart for Stuttgart sealed Hertha's fate. To make matter worse for Berlin they saw captain Arne Friedrich limp off with a hamstring injury in the first half.



Bayern Munich beat bottom club Karlsruhe 1-0, with Jose Sosa's strike after 34 minutes was enough to secure maximum points.

Hamburg earned a 2-1 victory at Schalke when Jose Paolo Guerrero scored twice in four second-half minutes and while
Schalke pulled a goal back through Jefferson Farfan in the 80th minute, it wasn't enough.

Wolfsburg eased past Arminia Bielefeld 3-0 for a far more comfortable afternoon.

Christian Gentner got the ball rolling with a goal after 19 minutes and although they had to wait until the 58th minute to go 2-0 up through Grafite the visitors were rarely tested.

Substitute Ashkan Dejagah added a third three minutes from time.

Hoffenheim played out a 2-2 draw at home to Hannover as they drew for the fifth game running.

The visitors had looked set to record their first away win of the campaign until Hoffenheim substitute Wellington struck with six minutes to go.

Hoffenheim, who are now five points behind the leaders.
