Netherlands qualify for World Cup finals with 2-1 win over Iceland

The Netherlands booked their place in next year's World Cup finals with a 2-1 victory over Iceland in Reykjavik.

Goals from Nigel de Jong and Mark van Bommel in the first 20 minutes enabled the Dutch to maintain their 100% record in qualifying Group Nine - before Kristjan Orn Sigurdsson headed a late consolation for Iceland.

With six straight wins, the Dutch side are now 11 points clear of second placed Scotland with just three games to play and thus the Netherlands have won Group Nine and qualified for the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.
