Tennis News :: Roger Federer into Wimbledon quarter finals, plays Robin Soderling on Monday

Roger Federer booked his place in the last 16 with a 6-3 6-2 6-7 6-1 victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber on Centre Court.

The world number two once again treated the All England Club crowd to an exhibition of grasscourt tennis, however Federer did drop his first set of the tournament before wrapping up victory in two hours and 30 minutes.

Federer will now face Robin Soderling in the fourth round on Monday in what is a repeat of the French Open final, where Federer beat the Swede to lift his first title at Roland Garros.

"It has been a good first week," Federer reflected. "I thought this was my best match of the tournament even though I lost a set. It's fine as long as you come through without losing too much energy

"It will be nice to have Saturday and Sunday off and get rid of the pressure for a day or so. I felt a lot of pressure two years ago but I feel relaxed now. It's going to be an exciting second week

Number 13 seed Soderling shrugged off a minor fitness scare to breeze past Spain's Nicolas Almagro 7-6 6-4 6-4 on Court Three.
