Spain's top two clubs managed single goal victories over the weekend, keeping the established order in Spain.

Barcelona sealed a 1-0 home victory against RCD Espanyol in the derby while Real Madrid recorded a late 3-2 win at Valencia CF, who dropped to fourth after Sevilla won 1-0 at Real Sporting de Gijon to move into third place.

Mallorca moved into 5th place after a 1-0 win at Osasuna, leapfrogging past Deportivo who were held to a 1-1 draw.
