World Cup News :: Arjen Robben remains in Dutch World Cup squad

Winger Arjen Robben will remain part of the Dutch World Cup squad after a scan revealed his hamstring injury was not as serious as first thought.

Robben limped out of the 6-1 friendly win over Hungary on Saturday, prompting fears he would miss the finals.

But Robben is now set to fly to South Africa, with coach Bert van Marwijk hoping the Bayern Munich star can at least feature later in the tournament. "For the time being, I will not replace Arjen," said Van Marwijk.

However, it seems highly likely that the 26-year-old will miss his country's Group E opener against the Danish, while the Dutch's other Group E clashes against Japan (19 June) and Cameroon (24 June) may also come too soon for the midfielder.

The knock-out stages, though, could provide a platform for a Robben comeback, and Holland's recent displays suggest they could well advance to the second round and beyond.
