Preview
There will be a real sense of disappointment around the Los Angeles Dodgers that they have not been able to close this Divisional Round Series out on Wednesday, although there is no panic with the team leading 2-1 and with a maximum of two games left.
Giving the Philadelphia Phillies some life is a problem, but the Dodgers will want to move past Game 3 very quickly and get back to doing what helped them win two road games already.
It does mean all three games have been won by the road team and the Philadelphia Phillies will be most pleased by seeing the top of the order show some fight. They did manage to get some big Hits out of those players and that helped blow open the game late on in an eventual 8-2 win.
Now they have to face Los Angeles starter Tyler Glasnow who has already thrown almost 2 completed Innings in this Divisional Round Series. Those came out of the bullpen in Game 1 and Glasnow will have taken some confidence from the five Outs he recorded, although there is always a different feel when playing as a reliever compared with a starter.
Tyler Glasnow is more well versed in this spot though and he had a 3-0 record and 2.49 ERA from four starts made in September in what has been an injury hit season.
He did not pitch in the Playoffs last season, but Tyler Glasnow has pitched in the World Series before when a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. However, the starter will be well aware that he allowed five runs and lasted just 2 Innings in a game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the regular season.
Considering the disappointing bullpen, the Dodgers will need their pitcher to at least go longer than Yoshinobu Yamamoto managed in Game 3. Tyler Glasnow has to be well aware that the Phillies will be looking to chase him out of the game by prolonging each bat that steps onto the plate, but some key relieving arms were kept ready for this game.
The Phillies will be going back to Game 1 starter Cristopher Sanchez who had a fairly decent outing before getting into some trouble in the Sixth Inning. He absorbed two runs, but Sanchez had nine Strikeouts and Philadelphia will be looking for a similar standard from him on four days rest.
During the regular season, Sanchez had some problems dealing with this loaded Los Angeles batting lineup, but thanks to Aaron Nola and Ranger Suarez, the bullpen are going to be ready for the road team as they look to find a way to bring this Series back home for one more game.
Prediction
Picking a winner is really difficult- the Dodgers looked to hold all of the aces in Game 3, but they were not able to produce and the Philadelphia Phillies have to have taken a huge amount of confidence from the win.
The top of the order came alive and all of the markets are pretty tightly managed for this Game 4.
Both starters have had success against the batting lineups to be faced already in this Divisional Round Series, although the lean has to be with the Phillies if this becomes a bullpen game.
Instead, it may pay off to pick a batter from each team to have at least one Hit on the day and place them in a bet builder together.
JT Realmuto has been a consistent force on the Phillies roster and he has had at least on Hit in each of the games played in this Divisional Round, including one against Tyler Glasnow in Game 1.
On the other side, Teoscar Hernandez has had successes against Cristopher Sanchez in their career match ups (although not in Game 1). H is also a dangerous batter for any reliever coming in and the two players both earning at least one Hit in Game 4 looks the best approach to take in a competitive looking encounter.
