GOONER SAYS :

Welcome to our Borussia Dortmund betting picks and match previews, covering the German Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and European football.

Dortmund are my favourite German team, and I've had the pleasure of visiting their famous stadium. I was there during the 2006 World Cup, when Brazil beat Ghana 3-0 in the round of 16. It's a terrific football city, and the atmosphere at the Westfalenstadion is something special. The famous Yellow Wall gives you an idea of what makes this club different.

But being a supporter, or simply liking a team, doesn't make it a good bet. The odds matter, and even a club as exciting as Dortmund can be overpriced. Our aim here is to look beyond the badge and find bets that offer value, rather than simply backing the team we fancy to win.

This page brings together Dortmund previews and betting selections from our tipsters. You may find more than one opinion on a match, which is no bad thing. Our contributors have their own views and approaches, and you can follow their records and results to judge how they've been doing for yourself.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND HISTORY:

Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund, better known as Borussia Dortmund or BVB, was founded on 19 December 1909 by 18 football enthusiasts in a pub near Borsigplatz in Dortmund, Germany.

Dortmund have grown into one of German football's biggest clubs, recognised around the world for their black-and-yellow colours, passionate supporters and the extraordinary atmosphere at their home ground. The club moved into the Westfalenstadion in 1974, now known as SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.

The stadium is famous for its enormous South Stand, known as the Yellow Wall, one of the most imposing terraces in European football. With a capacity of 81,365, it is Germany's largest football stadium and regularly attracts crowds of more than 80,000.

Dortmund's modern European high point came in 1997, when Ottmar Hitzfeld's side defeated Juventus 3-1 to win the UEFA Champions League. They reached the final again in 2013 and 2024, losing to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively. Domestically, their back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012 under Jürgen Klopp remain a defining period in the club's recent history.
