Borussia Dortmund are the only Bundesliga side with a perfect record after four rounds, sitting top with 12 points from 12.
They have beaten Hamburger SV, TSG Hoffenheim, SC Paderborn and VfB Stuttgart, scoring nine goals and conceding only two. The latest win was a 1-0 victory in Stuttgart, with Maximilian Beier scoring the only goal.
It is Borussia Dortmund's best start in 11 years. The last time they won their first four Bundesliga games was in 2015/16 under Thomas Tuchel, when they went on to win the first five. They have never started a Bundesliga campaign with six straight victories.
Coach Niko Kovac does have a few selection issues to deal with. Nico Schlotterbeck is doubtful with an ankle problem, while Julian Ryerson, Carney Chukwuemeka and Konstantinos Karetsas are also concerns. Daniel Svensson has been dealing with illness, Mathis Albert is returning from the United States, and Ramy Bensebaďni faces a quick jump in after international duty. Emre Can, Filippo Mané and Lerma are among those already ruled out.
Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen have seven points from their opening four games, their best return at this stage since returning to the Bundesliga in 2022.
After losing 4-1 to SC Freiburg, Daniel Thioune's side responded with wins over RB Leipzig and Augsburg, sandwiching a 1-1 draw at Köln. They have scored eight goals and conceded eight.
Niclas Füllkrug has already scored three times since returning to Bremen, including goals against RB Leipzig and Köln. Marco Grüll has also been a key attacking outlet, scoring twice and supplying four assists across the opening four games.
The problem for Werder Bremen is that this is a much bigger challenge than the one they faced before the international break. Borussia Dortmund have kept clean sheets in their last two Bundesliga games and have conceded only twice all season.
Werder Bremen have also struggled in this fixture recently, failing to score in their last two meetings with BVB, which ended 3-0 and 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund.
The overall head-to-head record is just as strong for the hosts. Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga meetings with Werder Bremen, winning five and drawing two, while they have lost only one of their last 15 Bundesliga duels against the Green-Whites.
The Betting Verdict
The straight win for Borussia Dortmund is too short for me. Werder Bremen have started well and have enough quality to make this competitive, so I don't want to take a 1.30-something price.
My top bet recommendation is a combo of Borussia Dortmund to win & BTTS No at around 2.70.
Borussia Dortmund have conceded only twice in four Bundesliga matches, kept clean sheets in their last two, and have won the last two meetings with Werder Bremen without conceding. At this price, I think the risk is worth taking.
