A Sports Betting Pick by Lamps
Football : England : Premier League
Saturday 22nd September - Kickoff 12:45pm
Swansea
Swansea are flying at the moment in 5th place and manager Laudrup must be commended for this excellent start. In the early kick off at the Liberty Stadium Swansea host Everton knowing a win could send them top if results go their way.
The Swans opened the season with 2 wins but have failed to win their next 2, draw 1 and losing the other. Their open attacking brand of football is very easy on the eye but if they fall behind in games it's often difficult to restore parity. Last weekend's loss at Villa is a good example of this.
At the Liberty Swansea beat West Ham (3-0) in an early kick off but were then held by Sunderland (2-2). Scoring 5 in 2 home games is impressive and 1 clean sheet form 2 isn't bad either. Swansea have 2 wins from the last 3 at home and 3 in the last 5 so they are force at home.
Swansea have scored in their last 5 home games and on 4 occasions it has been at least 2 or more goals. Within this run they also have 3 clean sheets so I'm expecting a good display from the Swans on Saturday.
Everton
The Toffees are also in fine form currently 2 places below Swansea but they share 7 points with the Welsh side. On Monday night they won a game 4-2 but in the record book it will go down 2-2 as two shocking decisions went against them. Still Moyes must round up the troops as a visit to Swansea is never a comfortable one.
Like Swansea, Everton won their first 2 games of the season only to lose and draw their next 2. Everton beat United (1-0) and Villa (1-3) only to lose at West Brom (2-0) and then as discussed above draw to Newcastle (2-2).
Away from home Everton have just 1 win in 6 but did win at Swansea last season. The defeat at West Brom was their first in the 6 game run with 4 draws coming at the back end of last season.
A slight concern is that they have been shut out in 2 of the last 3 away from home but before that did score in 4 straight. A worry about Everton is that Jelavic might be out and the side only played Monday and now they play in the early game on Saturday.
Betting Verdict
Everton won both games last season to nil (1-0) and (0-2). I think we will see similar scores but perhaps to the Swans this time around rather than to Everton.
The price on Swansea is tempting especially on the draw no bet as I feel this is a good spot to go against Everton. Swansea may be regressing and this is bound to be very close.
I want the draw onside so I will take this game to end with under 2.5 goals. Swansea will find Everton tough to break down whilst the visitors will be suffering if Jelavic doesn't make it.
Swansea keep the ball well and retain possession, Everton will happily let them play in front of them and we may not see many chances here. An early goal is a worry of course but I'm expecting 2 sides to cancel each other out here for the most part.
Good Luck
