Denmark
Denmark will return to Copenhagen for only their second home game during this campaign after having played three consecutive games on the road.
It was a grim campaign for the Danes until last week when they’ve managed to record a superb 3-0 victory in Olomuc against the Czech Republic which allowed them to climb to the third place in group B.
Goals from Andreas Cornelius, Simon Kjær and Niki Zimling secured a much needed victory for Morten Olson’s men. It was a success that raised morale and belief after a disappointing period.
Denmark still got a lot of work to do to close up the gap between them and second placed Bulgaria, but a home game against their contenders after such a great performance against the Czechs seems like a perfect opportunity to do so.
Bulgaria
Bulgaria also managed to build up confidence with a solid 6-0 home victory over minnows Malta and Luboslav Penev's side have closed to within a point of group B leaders Italy.
Bulgaria not only kept a clean sheet, they even denied Malta a shot on or off target, but statistics from a game against Malta should not be relevant before a match in Denmark.
Penev's side is unbeaten in five group B games, but this will only be their second away match during this campaign after playing out a goalless draw against the Czech Republic back in October.
The Betting Verdict
Bulgaria did well in the reverse fixture despite playing for more than an hour with ten men following Ivan Bandalovski's red card and held Denmark to a 1-1 draw.
I’m sure Bulgaria would be pleased with another draw to keep their unbeaten record and the four points distance between them and Denmark intact, but I don’t think the hosts would settle for a point.
Even though they are without suspended (by the Danish federation) Nicklas Bendtner, Denmark still has quality up front, Kobenhavn’s striker Andreas Cornelius is definitely a good solution for Olsen’s attack.
I don’t like the prices for the home win, but Denmark should be strong enough to edge this, so I suggest taking the Danes to capitalize on their superb 3-0 win over the Czech Republic and pick up the points in Copenhagen.
