Mallorca sit 19th and are in the middle of a massive fight to stay up in La Liga, and to do so they must continue their excellent home record against Rayo Vallecano, who come here with a lot less motivation, since they are sitting safe in 9th.
Mallorca have hosted Rayo in La Liga 6 times and never lost, winning 5 times. Their home form has improved since changing managers too, winning 2 of their last 5 home games to boost their chances of survival. I was particularly impressed with the 2-1 win here against Seville, and in their last game they blanked and beat Celta Vigo 1-0.
Rayo come here off a 2-0 home loss to Real Sociedad, and before that had a 2-0 win at Celta Vigo, although that was their first away win in a while. In fact, that was the only win in their last 6 away games, so travelling is a concern for them and accordingly they are priced as heavy underdogs despite being half the table better off than their hosts.
THE BETTING VERDICT
There is a chance of a draw but I think at the prices available the home side provide a great value bet. You could consider the win not to nil or even a winning margin of just 1 goal, but I'm going to plump for the straight win.
