The Norwegian Eliteserien season is still in its early stages which is just as well for Thursday’s hosts, Rosenborg, as they’ve made an inauspicious start to the new campaign, picking up just one point from their opening two matches of the new term.
This point came courtesy of a 0-0 draw at home with Kristiansund on the opening day of the season but a 1-0 defeat in last weekend’s trip away at Molde mean that Rosenborg will be keen to make amends when they return to the more familiar surroundings of their Lerkendal Stadion this evening.
There’s certainly no need to press the panic button as Rosenborg have plenty of time to rectify things and they’ll need no motivation for this upcoming clash with Bodo/Glimt as the visitors pipped them into 2nd spot behind last season’s title winners, Molde.
In addition, Rosenborg have been strong at home as the hosts are unbeaten in their last 12 matches at home in the Eliteserien overall, which includes 10 wins and a 3-2 win against Bodo/Glimt in their previous meeting at the Lerkendal Stadion.
By contrast, Bodo/Glimt have come out of the starting blocks in explosive fashion as the visitors have collected maximum points after winning their first two matches of the new Norwegian top flight season on the trot with victories against Viking 4-2 away and a 6-1 thrashing of Haugesund last weekend.
This upcoming trip to Rosenborg though will be Bodo/Glimt’s first real test and having suffered defeat on the road at Molde 4-2 at the end of last season along with the 3-2 loss at Rosenborg last time out at the Lerkendal Stadion, it’s not an entirely rosy outlook for the visitors here.
On top of that, Bodo/Glimt have managed to pick up just one win out of their last eight matches away from home in the Eliteserien which was the recent win at Viking, but three defeats on their travels within this period suggest that Bodo/Glimt could have their work cut out here.
