Nantes recorded a morale-boosting 2-1 win away from home at Nice in last week’s Ligue 1 action and Antoine Kombouare’s side will be in a much better frame of mind when they return to their Stade de la Beaujoire ground for Sunday night’s clash with Lyon.
Nantes have managed to pick up a few wins on the road of late in Ligue 1 with previous victories gained at Toulouse and Lorient but the hosts have also been handed a string of defeats as well which have prevented Nantes from lifting themselves further away from the relegation zone.
Having lost nine of their last 13 matches overall in the domestic top flight, the prospects of a home win here for Nantes look slim especially as they have lost their last six home games on the trot.
Lyon extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to three games following a 1-1 draw at home with Reims which followed previous wins against Lorient and Toulouse, both of which were recorded on their travels.
The bigger picture shows Lyon have suffered just the single defeat from their last eight matches overall which came in the form of a heavy 3-0 loss at home to Lens but they’ve also picked up six wins within this period as well.
Wins on the road at Montpellier, Metz, Lorient and Toulouse respectively will give Lyon plenty of confidence ahead of this upcoming trip to the Stade de la Beaujoire to face Nantes on Sunday evening especially as the visitors have won their last four away games on the trot.
However, six wins from their last 15 outings on the road suggests Lyon may not be quite as comfortable here as many might think.
