Honduras bounced back from a previous comprehensive 6-0 thrashing in their opening group match at the hands of Canada in immediate fashion when they produced a welcome 2-0 victory over El Salvador to get them back on track in their ambitions of achieving a top two finish in Group B.
That recent win against El Salvador became a fifth win in six games for Honduras who had previously recorded home and away wins against Bermuda in the Gold Cup play-offs along with wins in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers over Cayman Islands and Antigua & Barbuda.
The bigger picture shows Honduras have suffered just three defeats in their last 11 internationals whilst picking up seven wins in the process, so coach Reinaldo Rueda will be urging his side to collect another result here on Tuesday night.
Curacao have drawn both of their games in Group B following stalemates with El Salvador and Canada in 0-0 and 1-1 draws respectively but Dick Advocaat’s side must pick up all three points in this final game against Honduras if they are to join Canada into the knockout rounds of this Gold Cup.
Curacao had also collected back-to-back wins in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers with important victories gained over Saint Lucia and Haiti, while the bigger picture shows La Familia Azul have been handed just a single defeat in their last 10 internationals, so they too look to have a decent chance of securing a result here.
