Koper started the domestic Slovenian top flight season in positive manner when they registered a 2-1 home win against Bravo and the hosts will undoubtedly be looking for more of the same when they play host to Primorje at their Bonifika Stadium on Monday night.
The hosts were then soundly beaten in comprehensive fashion 7-0 by Norwegian Elietserien side Viking in the 2nd qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League in midweek but nevertheless, manager Slaviša Stojanovič will be looking for a reaction to that heavy loss here on Monday evening.
Koper finished last season’s Prva Liga campaign in 3rd place where they posted an overall home record of 8-7-3 27/14 and having despatched Bosnia & Herzegovina side FK Željezničar 4-2 on aggregate in the previous round of the Conference League, the hosts will still be in confident mood.
Onto Primorje and the visitors also got their Slovenian top flight campaign off to a winning start last week with a 3-2 home win against Domžale but prior to the start of this new domestic season, the visitors really struggled in their pre-season warm-up games.
Despite winning their last two games of last term with victories against Mura and Kalcer Radomlje, Primorje failed to win any of their six pre-season games and indeed, the visitors were dealt no fewer than five losses in the process.
Throw in the fact that the visitors could only muster a 6th place finish at the end of last season’s campaign together with a fairly poor looking away record of 4-6-8 22/38, Primorje look to have their work cut out ahead of this upcoming trip to face Koper.
