Saturday night’s fixture in the Scottish Premiership sees 10th placed St Mirren playing host to 4th placed Motherwell when the two sides clash at St Mirren Park with both sides looking to improve their respective standings in the domestic top flight table.
St Mirren will head into this encounter on the back of two defeats on the trot as The Saints have been dealt losses by the likes of Kilmarnock 4-3 and Hibernian 2-0 respectively, both of which were on the road.
Prior to these recent losses, St Mirren had put together a promising five-match unbeaten sequence which included wins in the Scottish Cup over Livingston and Airdrieonians, as well as a hard-fought and impressive 1-0 home win against the Premiership leaders, Hearts.
Steve Robinson’s side possess a home record of 4-5-4 8/10 so far this season.
Motherwell’s impressive eight-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions finally came to an end in midweek when The ‘Well were dealt a 2-0 loss away from home at Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup but the visitors will be keen to return to winning ways against lowly St Mirren on Saturday night.
Six wins within their previous eight games will still give Jens Askou’s side plenty of confidence ahead of this upcoming trip to St Mirren Park but it is worth noting that only one of these six victories were achieved on their travels, which was a 2-0 win away at Livingston.
Results away from home though have generally been dominated by stalemates as Motherwell’s away record of 3-7-2 15/12 indicates, so the prospects of a draw on Saturday night should not be ignored.
The Betting Verdict
Two of the last four meetings between St Mirren and Motherwell have resulted in stalemate.
The Pick :
St Mirren 1-1 Motherwell
