Partick Thistle had to make do with a point and a share of the spoils in their recent top-of-the-table clash with St Johnstone in the Scottish Championship which resulted in a 0-0 stalemate but nevertheless, that result extended The Jags’ unbeaten run in the domestic second tier to seven games.
Partick Thistle still remain in 2nd place in the Championship table where they trail the league leaders St Johnstone by an eight-point margin so it looks like Saturday’s hosts may have to take the scenic route to possible promotion via the play-offs.
Three wins along with being involved in four draws have helped Mark Wilson’s side at least have the best chance with a solid play-off position as it stands and having registered recent victories over the likes of Ayr United, Airdrieonians and Greenock Morton, The Jags look handily placed to grab all three points here on Friday night.
Ross County by contrast sit second from bottom in the Scottish Championship table and find themselves locked in a tight relegation battle with bottom placed club Airdrieonians ahead of Friday night’s visit to Firhill Stadium.
The visitors were also involved in a draw last time out in the second tier as they drew 2-2 at home with high-flying Dunfermline Athletic but that result also extended Ross County’s winless run in the Championship to four games.
The bigger picture shows Ross County have managed to muster just one win from their previous seven matches which came in the form of a 2-0 home win against Raith Rovers but defeats to Queen’s Park, Dunfermline Athletic and St Johnstone have overshadowed their minimal success of late.
