Goztepe extended their unbeaten run in the Turkish Super Lig to four games on Saturday when they held 3rd placed Trabzonspor to a creditable 1-1 draw away from home but that result has effectively finished any ambitions the hosts might have held for a European spot for next season.
Saturday’s hosts find themselves seven points behind 4th placed Besiktas with just two games of the Super Lig season remaining, so the best that manager Stanimir Stoilov and his side can hope for now is a current 5th place finish this term.

Gaziantep are situated in 11th place in the Super Lig table and similar to their hosts, they have seemingly very little to play for on Saturday evening although they will be keen to improve upon a very ordinary looking sequence of just one win from their last six matches.
That rare highlight came in the form of a 3-0 home win against Kayserispor but having also slipped to no fewer than four losses within this recent sequence of results, the odds do not look good for Gaziantep at the Gursel Aksel Stadium.
Indeed, losses at the hands of Fenerbahce, Rizespor and Eyupspor respectively suggest another tough trip on the road for Mirel Radoi’s side.
