2026-05-13 - Hearts vs Falkirk

A Sports Betting Pick by Auls

Hearts v Falkirk
Football: Scottish Premiership Championship Group
Wednesday 13th May 2026 - Kick Off 8pm

Hearts

Fans of the English Premier League will be well aware of how successful Brighton have been under the ownership of Tony Bloom and the analytical approach taken. Further investments in European Football have also been rewarded and Hearts fans would have been excited when hearing Bloom had bought a 29% stake in the club last June, although this campaign has really come out of left field.

Tony Bloom stated he was hoping to 'disrupt domination' of Scottish Football when completing his purchase of that stake, but even he could not have imagined that less than twelve months later that Hearts would be top of the standings with two games to go. The Jambos are a point clear of Celtic and Hearts will be looking to put all of the pressure on the defending Champions by improving the 14-4-0 record at Tynecastle.

Hearts have recovered from a disappointing defeat at Kilmarnock to win 4 of the next 6 League games, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Motherwell on Saturday. The side have won 6 in a row at home since the 2-2 draw with Celtic at the end of January.

The injuries in the squad have forced changes, but manager Derek McInnes is really happy with the way the players have rallied together to support one another.

Falkirk

Any team that earns promotion will first think about consolidation, but Falkirk have overachieved this season by forcing their way into the Championship Group in the split of the Scottish Premiership. Fans will have a lot of respect for the performances this squad have put together all season, but the disappointment of losing to Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup Semi Final has perhaps produced a hangover.

A home loss to Hibernian this past weekend means Falkirk are almost certainly going to finish 6th in the Scottish Premiership, but this will be the highest League finish in over thirty years. Back to back promotions from the Scottish League One into the Premiership and then this campaign underlines the huge amount of success Falkirk have enjoyed in the last three seasons.

Falkirk were beaten in the Scottish FA Cup Semi Final After Extra Time and they have suffered 2 losses in 3 League games played since then. The side have lost 2 of the last 4 away Premiership games.

Scott Bain, Louie Marsh and Ethan Williams have to all be doubtful having missed the weekend fixture.

Head to Head

Hearts were beaten here by Falkirk on Penalties in the Scottish FA Cup, but all 3 Premiership games have been won by the current League leaders.

This will be the third League game hosted by Hearts having won the previous 2 either side of the FA Cup defeat on Penalties.

Prediction

Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager of Aberdeen the last time a club outside of the top two from Glasgow was able to finish the season as Scottish Champions.

41 years have passed since Aberdeen won the 1985 Scottish title a few months before Sir Alex Ferguson moved south of the border to Old Trafford and Manchester United.

Last summer Tony Bloom acquired 29% of Hearts with an ambition to 'disrupt domination' and they are one win at Celtic Park away from being able to do that.

That is the final fixture of the season and Hearts will be Champions if they are to win in Glasgow this coming weekend, but Derek McInnes may feel there is an opportunity to make that game meaningless.

His team just found out how hard it is to win at Fir Park, which is where Celtic play the penultimate fixture of the season, and Hearts fans could enjoy a big party if they win on Wednesday and hear positive news from the fixture hosted by Motherwell at the same time.

Of course Hearts cannot focus on anything but their own game and they should have too much for a Falkirk team that may have just lost a bit of focus having overachieved already this season. Losing in the Scottish FA Cup Semi Final will have stung and Falkirk have already been beaten 3 times by Hearts in the League this season.

There isn't a huge distance between the clubs so Falkirk may be motivated to spoil the party, but it is a big ask.

Hearts have not lost at Tynecastle all season and they have been stubborn defensively, as Falkirk have found out.

Everything may end up being on the line at Celtic Park this weekend, but Hearts will be confident they can win this fixture and force the title rivals and four time defending Champions to have to produce a big result of their own at Fir Park.

Hearts 2-0 Falkirk
