There is still plenty of time to turn things around in this Nations League Group after the narrow loss to Norway, but Denmark want to find some positive momentum after also missing out on competing at the World Cup Finals this past summer. It has been a tough twelve months for the national team, but Denmark can still call upon plenty of quality and showed enough in the defeat to Norway to suggest they can make a big impact in this section.
Home form is always going to be important in any of the League A Groups in the Nations League and Denmark will feel they are hosting the weakest of the three opponents they are set to face over the next few weeks. They did reach the Quarter Final of the last Nations League and Denmark can be thankful for a couple of home wins over Serbia and Switzerland within the Group Stage.
Denmark have won twice in the last 7 games in all competitions and it is the setbacks against Scotland and Czechia that cost them a place at the 2026 World Cup Finals. Losing at Norway will have hurt, but Denmark are back at home on Sunday and have won 8 of the last 11 fixtures played in front of the supporters.

Wales
No one is going to doubt the effort that the Wales players produced in the 1-0 defeat in Portugal, but Craig Bellamy will also be aware that the team will need to be better to avoid finishing bottom of this League A Group in the 2026/27 Nations League. Injuries are restricting the options, while Bellamy has had to tell the gathered press that his focus is firmly on helping Wales to improve having had talks with the vacant manager's role at Burnley in the summer.
Craig Bellamy insists it was his decision not to leave the role as manager of the national team, but the players have to remain focused on what they need to do on the field. The side had to weather a storm in Portugal, but Wales showed enough late on to believe they can earn a positive result on Match Day 2 and have some momentum to take into home fixtures in the Group Stage.
Wales, like Denmark, missed out on the World Cup after losing a Penalty Shoot Out in the Play Offs, but they also enjoyed a pretty successful Nations League outing in 2024/25. That ended with the team promoted into League A, but Wales have now failed to win any of the last 5 games and have been beaten in consecutive fixtures.
A host of players remain absent for this fixture and that will put pressure on the squad as they travel from Portugal to Denmark.

They also beat Wales twice in the 2018/19 Nations League when both played in the same Group.

Prediction
There was a lot to admire about Wales when it came to the resiliency shown and then the late flourish in Portugal, but the reality is they could have been well beaten with stronger, more composed finishing from the hosts.
It is unlikely that Denmark will be as generous, although this is a team that has been lacking a bit of confidence over the last several months.
Despite that, Denmark made things very tough for Norway on Match Day 1 of the Nations League Group Stage and that was away from home.
In recent years, Denmark have been more convincing at home where they have won 8 of the last 11 fixtures played, and they may have enough in the final third to score at least twice in a winning effort over Wales on Sunday.
You would not be surprised if Wales lack a bit of energy having invested plenty in the loss in Portugal and having few options to change things around makes things all the more difficult for Craig Bellamy in his bid to help the Welsh earn a positive result.
