2009-03-14 - Manchester United vs Liverpool F.C
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Match of the Week no doubt as all eyes will be on this match as Liverpool comes into this magtch on the back of a great performance beating Real Madrid 4-0 at Anfield, but credit must also be given for The Red Devils's performance when they themselves managed a 2-0 win over Italy's best team at the moment managed by Jose Mourinho when they silence the critics in midweek.
United have been nothing short of impressive as they have won their last 11 league games to overtake Liverpool at the top. That run has seen them go seven points clear at the top with also a game still in hand.
Liverpool on the other hand started the season brightly but after the first half of the campaign, hopes of landing their League title after a 19 year drought seems to be fading away fast. So, Liverpool knows this is a must win game for them if they harbour any hopes of catching United much alone win the Premiership title.
As it is now United are looking at the quintuple, having already landed the Carling Cup to their Fifa Club World Cup and are also in the FA Cup semi-final and UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
Si Alex Ferguson knows that a win is vital here as it could end Liverpool hopes, if there is any left of posing a threat to them or even winning the Premiership.
At the attacking frony we are likely to see Wayne Rooney partnering Dimitar Berbatov after the pair helped to defeat reigning Italian Serie A Champions Inter Milan 2-0 on Wednesday. At the back four Rio Ferdinand will partner Nemanja Vidiv after coming through without any reaction to his ankle injury.
United will not have the services of long term injury players such as Gary Neville, Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves remain sidelined, along with Rafael da Silva for this match.
For Liverpool, it will be interesting to see which Livrpool side turns up for this match after the 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid. They have a jekyll and hyde personality whereby they can play so well in Europe but falter when it matters in the Premiership.
Captain Steven Gerrard was instrumental against the nine times Spanish European Champion so it depends very much on how he performs in this early lunch time kickoff.
Fernando Torres also with the aid of pain killing injections in his problem ankle, did well to helped Liverpool, so the Red fans will be hoping there are no ill effects from it.
Yossi Benayoun is out from this match with a hamstring injury but Albert Riera will start after he was suspended for the midweek action.
I will go for Manchester United to get a win here and give the 1/2 ball away.
Cheers and good luck,
