United have been nothing short of impressive as they have won their last 11 league games to overtake Liverpool at the top. That run has seen them go seven points clear at the top with also a game still in hand.

So, Liverpool knows this is a must win game for them if they harbour any hopes of catching United much alone win the Premiership title.

As it is now United are looking at the quintuple, having already landed the Carling Cup to their Fifa Club World Cup and are also in the FA Cup semi-final and UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Si Alex Ferguson knows that a win is vital here as it could end Liverpool hopes, if there is any left of posing a threat to them or even winning the Premiership.
