Liverpool second from the top welcomes the visit of West Brom second from the bottom and will want to get maximum points in this match to be the new leaders of the Premiership as Chelsea does not play until tomorrow night.

Liverpool will want to bounced back after suffering their first defeat of the season against a rejuvenated Tottenham side and as a result they dropped to second in the table as they are down on goal difference to Chelsea now.

In midweek, they also almost suffered a defeat in the Champions League to Atletico Madrid so they will need an improved performance to regain their top position in the league.

For West Brom, Tony Mowbray will want to emulate what newcomers Stoke did who came back in September and left with a deserving point after preventing the Reds form getting all three points.

But they are coming into this match in very poor form as they have failed to find victory in four games now, and it would be hard to see the Reds not managing full points here.

And the visitors will not want to hear the news that star striker Fernando Torres will return after making a recovery from a hamstring injury. Xabi Alonso could make way but the poor form of Robbie Keane who has yet to score a goal could see Alonso still keep his place in the side nevertheless.

Centre-half Daniel Agger who seems to have dislocated a finger against Atletico Madrid will be fit for this match while Andrea Dossena could return for Fabio Aurelio as they are both given equal chances for the left back slot.

For the visitors, West Brom midfielder Filipe Teixeira has returned to training and should feature today after knee and calf problems while James Morrison is in contention for a starting place despite limping off against Blackburn in their last match last weekend.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson will start in goal and play against his former team in this match. However the likes of Leon Barnett and defensive colleague Abdoulaye Meite will miss this match due to injuries.
