A Sports Betting Pick by Auls
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves, under the guidance of Mick McCarthy, look very much like they have a place in the Premier League for next season and they can make that official with a win here. They are top of the Championship with a 25-8-10 record and this gives them a 6 point advantage over 2nd place Birmingham and 7 points over 3rd place Sheffield United with only 3 matches left to play this season. Wolves are 13-5-3 at home where they have scored 42 goals and conceded 21. They have scored the most goals at home this season in the division.
After a real blip in February which was looking increasingly likely to cost Wolves an automatic promotion spot, they have only lost 1 of their last 8 games and have managed to win 6 of them. Wolves have only lost 1 of their last 7 at home and have won 2 in a row at Molineux. Wolves have only conceded 1 goal in their last 3 games at home.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is likely to return to the side this weekend. Chris Iwelumo is still going to miss out though.
Queen Park Rangers
QPR are in 10th spot in the Championship and have no real hope of making the playoffs, currently 9 points behind Burnley with 3 games to go. They have been having a lot of off the field problems lately, with the sacking of Paulo Sousa after only 26 games. They have a 15-15-13 record but they have really struggled on their travels where they are 3-9-9. They have only scored 13 goals and conceded 22. QPR have scored the least amount of goals away from home in the division.
QPR have only lost 1 of their last 6 games, but 4 of those have been at home. They have failed to win any of their last 6 away games and they have lost 3 of those games. They have struggled for away goals recently with only 1 goal scored away from home in those games
Rowan Vine is in line to start and Heidur Helguson is also likely to be available.
Head to Head
QPR won the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier this season but this is their only win in 13 games between the sides.
Wolves and QPR draw here 3-3 last season but Wolves had won 4 in a row at Molineux against QPR before that result.
Prediction
Wolves have scored goals for fun this season and the return of Ebanks-Blake is only adding to that firepower. They have all the motivation they will require as they can essentially win the Championship as well as promotion with a win in this game.
QPR have been under some pressure off the field and have struggled for goals away from home all season and this could cause a lot of trouble against a side like Wolves.
I think Wolves has to be the pick here. They have so much incentive and have been performing well at home and with Ebanks-Blake back in the side, I expect them to win promotion and the title in one afternoon
