A Sports Betting Pick by Costanzo
AFL Football ; Australia : Afl Premiership
Sunday, 28th March 2010 - Kickoff 2:10pm Local / 3:10am GMT
This is billed as match of the round between two of last year's top four teams. A fair crowd should head to the MCG and witness this match as it usually proves to be a close match with action all the way until the death.
Western Bulldogs
This team is ready for something this year. They started the season on fire winning the NAB Cup (Pre-season Tournament) and impressing the AFL world.
The Bulldogs' have strenghthened their forward line with the coup of landing Barry Hall. He seems calmer than usual and his aggressive antics seem a thing of the distant past. He looks focused, and having scored two bags of six goals in the NAB Cup he is looking like the answer to the long asked question aimed at the Dogs' attack.
The Westerm Bulldogs still have gun players like Lake, Griffen and Morris in the back line, and their midfield is led by former Brownlow winner Adam Cooney. On top of this they have older players in their late twenties who are ready to lift in Rob Murphy and Mitch Hahn.
The Dogs pride themselves on their fitness and you should see them run over some teams in the second half of games throughout the season.
Personally the Western Bulldogs are my overall tip for the flag, and they should be hard to stop.
Collingwood Magpies
The Pies have flown under the radar this in the lead up to the season, and maybe it has done them good.
Collingwood are essentially the same team but have added Darren Jolly as their new number one ruckman. He should allow their other big guys to float forward and make things hard for opponents all year.
Simon Prestigiacomo once again leads the back line along with captain Nick Maxwell and they should offer some stiff resistance to opposing forwards. The midfield is an area where the Pies will be quietly confident.
While it is littered with guys under 25, most of them now have at least 30 games under their belt and will feel capable of rising to the challenge. Anthony, Cloke and Davis lurking around in the forward 50 will be sure to pose issue to rival defenders.
Expect the Pies to be right up there again this year pushing for a top 4 spot.
The Predicted Result :
I have to take the Dogs to win this game.
Their form has been impeccable and they are showing no signs of slowing, while the Pies will be hard all game I still think the Doggies might edge across the line in one of the closest matches of the week.
