2010-04-09 - Bray Wanderers vs Sligo Rovers
A Sports Betting Pick by Stephen
Football: League Of Ireland Premier Division
Friday 9th April Kick Off 7.45pm
Bottom of the table side Bray Wanderers earned their first point of the new season with a 0-0 draw at Drogheda on Monday. Its been a poor start from Eddie Gormley's side but not unexpected as they were favourites to go down. Bray finished bottom of the league last season but due to Cork City's financial situation, Cork were relegated and Bray got a lucky break and stayed in the Premier Division for another season anyway.
Of their 2 home games they lost 1-0 to Dundalk in a game that perhaps they could have got a result but were well beaten by promoted side Sporting Fingal by a 3-1 scorline. Last season in the 4 meetings Bray were beaten twice and one draw but did manage a 3-1 win at home in the league. Bray will be missing midfielder Chris Shields through suspension and Dave Tyrell through injury but will have full squad to choose from the rest.
Sligo have been solid in the early part of the season and are looking to improve on their mid table finish of last season. They have been tipped by many to challenge for a european place at least and the signs are that they could well do. They also reached the FAI Cup Final last season only to lose 2-1 to Sporting Fingal. They knocked out League Champions Bohemians in that cup run.
Sligo have drawn 5 and won 1 and remain unbeaten so far. Their 3 away games ended in draws but 2 of them were tough trips to Dublin to face champions and favourites to retain their crown Bohemians and newly promoted Sporting Fingal who are expected to have a good season too. Boss Paul Cook has made some shrewd signings including Striker Padraig Amond from Shamrock Rovers who has already made a big impression and also Joseph Ndo from Bohemians. Ndo is a former Cameroon International and has exceptional talent.
THE BETTING VERDICT
Rovers are definitely the better of the two sides and have gained 3 impressive draws away from home so far this season. They can definitely win this and are 10/11 in some places to win.
Sligo Rovers to win.
The Pick :
