Dustin Moseley is the Yankee on the mound, and he comes into this off a shut-out performance against the Boston Red Sox. That last blanking was the 2nd quality start for Moseley in the last 3 and he is no stranger to the Royals either. Last month, he came in with the bullpen and restricted Kansas to just 1 hit in 4.2 innings.
Moseley works quick, and tends to throw a lot of strikes. The way to beat him is to hit him, as he won't walk many batters. That kind of pressure is going to be hard to deal with for the home side.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS
(47-68 W/L, 23-30 Home, 2-8 Last 10, L5 Streak)
Kyle Davies goes for the home side today, and I dare say he'll have more than a few scares tonight. He faced the Yankees last month, and was in trouble in every inning he worked.
Davies allowed 3 home runs to be hit, and allowed 10 base-runners before being pulled after just 5.1 innings. That the Yankees went on to lose that game is a miracle. And I'm sure they'll be looking for revenge here.
Davies has struggled against the Yankees in matches before the last outing. Indeed, he has a career ERA of 6 against the New Yorkers and I can see him getting tonked around again tonight.
And if, as I suspect, he gets pulled early, the Royals have to turn to a bullpen with a tired look about them. I don't see them faring much better against the big hitting side either, and I can see this getting out of hand very early.
Kansas City has had a really tough time on offense lately, averaging a pathetic 2 runs per game over their last 10.
