Two sides that made the play-off semi-finals last season once again prepare to do battle as Huddersfield Town take on Charlton Athletic at their Galpharm Stadium on Saturday.
Huddersfield Town (10th)
The Terriers made a bright start to their new League One campaign dishing out a 3-0 win at newly-promoted Notts County, which they then followed up with a 1-0 win at Carlisle United in the 1st round of the Carling Cup.
Since then, however, results have been pretty disappointing for Lee Clark’s men as they were held to a goal-less draw at home to Tranmere Rovers, before suffering two heavy defeats at the hands of Peterborough United 2-4 away (throwing away a 2 goal lead), and a 1-5 thumping at Premiership Everton in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
Tom Clarke and Nathan Clarke both continue to be sidelined through injury, while keeper Alex Smithies (dead leg) and defender Gary Naysmith (toe) are both doubtful. New signing Alan Lee is set to start up front following his move from Crystal Palace.
Charlton Athletic (3rd)
Charlton have fared better than their opponents in the opening matches with the South London side aiming to make it four matches unbeaten as they make their way up to Yorkshire.
Back-to-back victories over Bournemouth 1-0 at home and 3-1 away at local rivals Leyton Orient respectively, gave The Addicks a much-needed boost following the departure of several players at the end of last season. They then drew 1-1 at home to fellow early season high-flyers Oldham Athletic which went pretty much according to current form.
Full-back Kelly Youga remains sidelined with a knee injury but is making good progress towards a recovery, and defensive midfielder Alex Stavrinou is also set to miss out. However, Phil Parkinson welcomes back defender Christian Dailly and midfielder Jose Semedo back from suspension which will add a bit more steel and bolster their squad.
The Betting verdict :
I'm thinking it might be a good time for Charlton to get something at Huddersfield here given The Terriers recent results, and back The Addicks to get at least a draw here.
