BLACKBURN ROVERS
Blackburn should be encouraged by the the weekends results, which saw Blackpool, West Ham and Wigan all drop points. The Lancashire club still have a bit to do to get out of trouble, and tonight will present a tough match, where they face a top 4 side fighting to cement a Champions League berth.
The last time Blackburn won a game at home was over 2 months ago, a run of 9 games. In that time they have managed just 3 draws when not losing. Yet, there is a chance to go 4 points clear of the relegation zone, which is quite a lot considering how tight it has been recently. Unfortunately, the Blackburn boss, Steve Kean, has a team riddled with injuries, which will make this game harder than it already is.
Along with all the injuries, Kean will be unable to play N'Zonzi due to suspension, while Santa Cruz isn't allowed to play against Manchester City, from where he is on loan at Blackburn. Blackburn would do well to score once in this game. I fear they will let in more than that.
MANCHESTER CITY
Manchester City lost their last Premier League match, away from home, at Liverpool 3-0. It was a truly awful display but boy did they make up for it a week later! Manchester City fought their hearts out in sending their despised city rivals out of the FA Cup 1-0. That puts Manchester City in the finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Stoke City.
Mancini is achieving what he was asked to do. The club is in 4th place, and that position got strengthened when Tottenham drew 3-3 with Arsenal, before losing another 2 points when West Brom smashed in their equaliser on Saturday for a 2-2 draw. 4th place is very much in City's hands and I cannot see them blowing it.
It has to be said that while this is a game Manchester CIty should win, they have not been great away from home. They have lost 3 consecutive away matches, and have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 away matches. Their last win away from home came on Boxing Day. Tevez, Richards and Boateng are all still injured, while Toure is still suspended. That leaves Balotelli and perhaps Yaya. I think Manchester City might just nick it, but this will not be a goal fest.
BETTING VERDICT
I have 2 bets for this one. The under looks a good bet as neither team will want to lose due to other results having gone their way this weekend. A point will not be a bad result for either. I do fancy Manchester City to nick it too.
