Steaua Bucuresti
Steaua didn’t have to sweat against Lithuanian champions Ekranas to reach the group stages of the Europa league (5-0 on agg.) where they’ve been drawn against Stuttgart, Copenhaga and Molde.
Claudiu Reghecampf’s squad is second in Liga 1 behind Pandurii Targu Jiu and their game looks better than in the previous season which means that this could be a promising season for Steaua after a lot of disappointing ones.
They’ve just lost their first game in Liga 1 on their trip to Vaslui, despite taking the lead early in the second half. Their goalkeeper Stanca made some huge goofs and allowed Vaslui to get back in the game and eventually secure a win.
Steaua has a perfect home record after three games scoring nine goals and only conceding once.
Otelul Galati
After a four year spell at Galati, coach Dorinel Munteanu decided to split ways with Otelul because of the poor budget he’s been given despite cashing in big time from the UCL last season.
The shareholders decided not to reinvest the almost 20 million euros awarded by UEFA for their presence in the UCL group stages and that made Dorinel Munteanu to resign after contributing to Otelul’s most important performances in their history.
Without any improvements and also selling two key players, Otelul couldn’t managed to stay competitive this season only winning one of their last six games which places them only 14th on the table.
The new coach is Viorel Tanase, he will be at his debut as a coach since Otelul couldn’t find a replacement in such short notice so this solution may even become permanent at least until the end of the year.
The Betting Verdict
Steaua is in excellent form when playing at home and I can’t see a team that just lost their coach who’s been with them for 4 years to stay in the way of their fourth consecutive victory.
Otelul also has a disastrous head to head record against Steaua in Bucharest, the last time they’ve left the capital unbeaten was back in 1997. Since then, they’ve lost all 14 games here.
The Pick :
Steaua Bucuresti 2-0 Otelul Galati
